What information we collect
When you place an order through our payment provider, Square, we receive the details necessary to fulfill it. This may include your contact information, the recipient's name and mailing address, a personal gift message, your requested sender signature (if any), payment confirmation, and order details. We do not need to receive your full card number to fulfill an order.
How we use information
We use order information to charge for the purchase, prepare the gift, send it to the intended recipient, provide updates, respond to questions, prevent misuse, and meet applicable legal or accounting requirements. We may review gift messages to prevent threats or harassment.
Sharing information
We share the minimum information needed with service providers, including Square for checkout and shipping carriers or label providers to deliver packages. We may disclose information when required by law or to address fraud, threats, or misuse. We do not sell customer or recipient information.
Sender-name privacy
If you choose not to sign the message, we do not intentionally disclose your name to the gift recipient. However, that is not anonymity from ShipCoal, Square, shipping providers, or lawful requests for records. Parcels display ShipCoal's business return address.
Website technology
Our starter website does not install analytics or advertising-tracking scripts. Hosting services may automatically generate access or security logs. Square checkout has its own privacy and security practices. Review Square's privacy notice for more information.
Retention and your choices
We retain order records as reasonably needed for customer service, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal obligations. To request access, correction, or deletion where permitted, contact hello@shipcoal.net.
Policy updates
We may update this policy as the service changes. The updated version will be published here with a new effective date.
